Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti

The management of the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, has said that it will offer free medical treatment to 2,000 people as part of the activities marking the fifth convocation ceremony of the institution.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Michael Ajisafe, who announced this at a press conference in Ado Ekiti, said the treatment, which would cover different ailments, was part of corporate social responsibilities of the institution to the society.

He added that patients for free health services would be treated by experts from Europe, Asia and Nigeria.

“The experts will treat any patient free-of-charge and they will perform surgery, if it is required on any patient, and this is on the bill of ABUAD. It is going to be on first come, first served basis,” he said.

About 869 graduands of the university will be conferred with Bachelor degrees in different fields on Saturday, with 83 bagging first class.

Ajisafe said the high number of first class graduates churned out by the university confirmed the quality of education that it provides, alongside uninterrupted power supply and full-residential policy for all students.

He added that the university would inaugurate a 400-bed teaching hospital built by its founder, Chief Afe Babalola, to offer quality health services to Nigerians.
